Journal of the Senate

The Minnesota Senate Journal is the official historic documentation of the Minnesota Senate’s proceedings. As the assistant editor in the production office of the Minnesota Senate, I contributed toward painstakingly copyediting and polishing every iteration of the Senate Journal during the 2017 Senate session. I spent hours on a daily basis poring over the dense legalese of new state bills, amendments and Senate actions to guarantee error-free language and proper punctuation. While this particular example spans only 12 pages, the Senate Journal could easily reach over 1,000 pages when including omnibus bills and other large pieces of legislation.

Senate Agenda

The Senate Agenda collects the 13 Orders of Business conducted by Minnesota senators during legislative sessions. As the assistant editor for the Minnesota Senate Journal office during the 2017 Senate session, compiling and copyediting the Senate Agenda was one of my main responsibilities. The completed document was circulated to every Minnesota senator and placed online for public use once it left our office, making my ability to ensure complete accuracy and grammatical perfection critically important. Here is an example of one of the many Senate Agendas I created, which could span from just a few pages to a few dozen depending on the day.
